How (and Why) To Make Money on the Internet (Part 2)

Surprisingly, my article on the paradigm shift in theories of urban planning was much more popular than Part 1 of 'How (and Why) To Make Money on the Internet'! Thank you to the reader who gave the post a thumbs up. I persevere!

Part 1 promoted a reflective approach of asking why we are seeking to make money on the internet. Again it is worth stating that regular employment, likely non-internet based, generally guarantees a more stable, regular income. But if you are looking for a secondary source of income, or are unable to find or hold down a job, here we are... the internet...

Internet (by Fisakov)

It's not easy to make money on the internet. I'll state that at the outset. Plausible or possible? Yes. A gamble? Often, and the investment can be considered in terms of time and effort as much as money. Venturous? Yes, this is very much the kind of approach towards the internet I will be discussing. Creative and original ideas will come in very handy here.

It's just a series of articles; my thoughts on a subject I know a little about. It's not a course of study and neither is it going to direct you towards any investment or scam. It's getting me writing on Publish0x and while Part 1 has so far earned me $0.00 dollars (wow!) my hope is that one or two readers might appreciate the read. And more might benefit from some of my (not exclusive) ideas. It is a venture on my part. The cents tend to top up a bit, slowly at first.

So we have this big question of 'How to make money on the internet'. Unpicking it a bit further, we can ask how much money you want to make because this is going to impact significantly on the choice of activity or financial pursuit you engage in. In Part 1 a sketch of basic ideas were provided by Google. All are interesting and a number of them (YouTube channel, blog, ebook) are the sort of things which reward creativity and originality. Taking online surveys I've never tried. Rather like writing articles on Publish0x these are probably not going to vastly transform one's financial fortunes overnight. But, as Tesco's used to say, every little helps...

The seventh suggestion that I gathered from my very hasty research on Google was 'Develop an app.' Well, there we are. 2010 film The Social Network portrays Mark Zuckerberg at Harvard knocking up his in-college app. So when we are talking about making money from the internet we can be talking cents but we might equally have long-scale ambitions of over-seeing an idea from thought to venture capital investment and beyond.

The Social Network

The takeaway point: whichever route or possible paths you look to take, it is well worth considering you will be putting plenty of time and energy (hours probably at a keyboard if not on the phone) and possibly some money into getting things moving. That time and energy will feel a lot easier to give if it is going into something positive that you feel passionate about, interested in, knowledgeable about; something that feels a bit right and feels a bit you. Consider your interests, your skills, character and personality. What kind of thing might work for you?

Returned to Publish0x which has treated me well in the past. And enjoying writing on various subjects in a vaguely anonymous capacity. I'm 52 years old. Music is a passion but there's also horse racing, books, film and oh dear... crypto.
