I've had a busy week on the internet. And late on today was pretty cool. I recorded a video of my music-making. Capcut enraged me so much that I then recorded a very angry song. Uploaded that to Audius. And now, back on Publish0x, I'm writing about these experiences.
What an effing mess it all is, to be honest. Tech firms providing services for free and then stopping the creator from doing really simple things. Like Garageband failing to export music in any format other than Garageband files - that's pretty annoying.
Perhaps I should not be moaning. Tech firms have to make their money somewhere. Since Spotify bought or won the financial rights to music. Or maybe they didn't. Maybe it's great and the internet has made music and video essentially free if you have a phone and some internet and can handle adverts. I'm not too concerned about Capcut AI using my content for data modelling.
In terms of the video editing with Capcut, well it was like video editing software always was... bulky and slow. I would have settled for a non-HD lower grade video for a much faster editing experience. I expected it to be intuitive but I really didn't find Capcut easy to use at all.
In terms of music I'm long accustomed to the import-export problem between Apple and Microsoft. Garageband is nice music editing software anyway. I struggle with the music in some ways and not in others. I've become a lot more skilled an instrumentalist and vocalist after many years.
Where is this article going? I'm not entirely sure. I'm back on Publish0x for the first time in years and I'm really surprised to find how little has changed (new popular articles from Cryptonators and PHM!). It's nice to come back and still know how to use the system. And I'll enjoy collecting a few beans from the site for my work. Ultimately I have Publish0x to thank for the only crypto profit I ever made. It's the low-grade, less heavily invested sites where slim financial pickings are available to content creators. The big corporate sites give so little back and just take more and more, I find.
So retail-wise I've made money with eBay (while Amazon has been rubbish). With horse racing I've earned through OLBG (bookies are no doubt behind it). And music... well I've just not made money through music. Soundcloud was kind of viable for a little while. Anyway, I don't consider I've made any music worthy of listeners' money. I still have hopes. Maybe one day...
But anyway this week I've been in a making and exporting music and publishing content on the internet kind of mood. I also lost about £10 worth of SOL by falling for an email scam! The scam was a music survey purporting to be from music/crypto site Audius (it wasn't). However, the funny thing is that falling for the scam got me to go to the real site and get involved.
So what's my take on Audius? Well, I don't know much about this sort of thing. I think the music on the platform is mostly AI-generated. AI music is an interesting phenomenon in itself that I'm not very up-to-date with. Audius, the website/company, seems to be into making money from its users. It's all very pay-to-play and the musical artists are likely very au fait with crypto economics and up for that, to some extent, I think. I'm kind of up for that game. Another website that hasn't changed much since I last checked it out, again years ago. I imagine the value of $AUDIO tokens has tanked in recent times along with the majority of less popular crypto currencies (I might be wrong).
Interesting things to dive into headfirst while taking a break from my guitar studies. I even... ah... I was going to say uploaded a video to YouTube... my first in years and years... but uploading a video to YouTube is happening now... so then I take a look and it says... 'Processing is abandoned. Video is too long.'

I could click on 'Learn more'. Shall I do that? I really don't care about this crap any more. OK, eight hours ago I did care and kind of wrote (it was very impromptu, very improvised) an impassioned song out of that care but now I don't care so much. I just go forth and go on, bashing my head against these internet paywalls persistently until they tumble. Apparently I have to verify my Google account to upload videos longer than 15 minutes. Does Google not know who I am? I guess it is my first YouTube video on my channel. It's not like it was a great video.
Capcut created some shorts out of my 18 minute movie. They're pretty daft but I'll try to add one of them here. No, after all this I can't really be bothered. However, if you want you can listen to the song. So, I haven't made this very clear. I was making a video about recording Scarborough Fair on ukulele into Garageband. Without any set-up really. I just went straight at it. And then I wanted to edit the video, my total footage being 18 minutes long, and I couldn't use Capcut because I'm new to it and I just got enraged (need to take an anti-depressant tablet to be honest). So I was in a proper rage and I took my rage into my little music studio and came up with this pretty unlistenable two minute piece. 'Effing' is a swearword that gets repeated. It wasn't that terrible a tantrum at the time but it's just a cautionary note. (Click on the text, not the picture, below to listen)

I hope you have enjoyed my take. I will try to read some music articles on this platform and spread the wealth. This article can get deleted by moderators. That's fine. I feel like the internet is the wild, wild west and a new gunslinger has just arrived in town. And I am about to get shot down very soon! Nice to be back on publish0x though. Peace x
