1 BTC Project - SWEAT grow jars suck now.

On October 27 of 2023 I wrote an article on the major face lift that the SWEAT economy app got. In this post I complained about the gas fees. It was weird that I would win 1SWEAT in the new lucky wheel and then have to pay a 0.2 SWEAT fee to add the token to my wallet. Like why? Giving with one hand and taking with the other is not endearing.

They began charging a 'gas' fee for everything. Even for locking tokens into their Grow Jars. As I wrote before it is both petty and far of the health and fitness mantra from the company. Honestly why charge a fee? Why not just shave back the APY? I don't know, but it is a bad look.

At the end of the day if I have to pay a penny to make a nickel I don't really care. So I racked up a gang of sweat jars. At time of writing I have more than 20 jars going. Its an extra way to gain some SWEAT. I thought it would be a fun goal to have a jar mature every day of the year.

Today I booted up the app so that I could open a new Grow jar, I had 14 tokens. 1 year of AYP would get me 1.5 tokens after fees.

Then I slid the slider to confirm the lock up and was met with this message.

So obviously this is strange. Did I own some NEAR before? The Gas fee is in SWEAT why do I need NEAR. Does thins mean the portfolio tab is live and I can trade my tokens or move them to a different place? 12% APY is pretty good. SWEAT has been really stable for the last year. I could forseeably take advantage of that APY with outside funds if I am allowed to load capital into the app. I have 1 USDT in the portfolio, could I convert that to NEAR or SWEAT. I had many questions. So nutrually I followed the link to find out how to add more NEAR.

Reading it for the first time is pretty funny. The developers' legal team spends a few paragraphs tripping over themselves reminding you that the SWEAT economy is not a bank and they are not responsible for losses of any kind. I especially like the part where the differentiate staking and Growth Jars. Its different because its a smart contract or something. Basically the APY is a myth, they are paying you from the Dev wallet in exchange for decreased liquidity.

So reading this page I learned a lot. What I didn't learn was anything about NEAR or paying with NEAR or how I get more NEAR into the App.

The one 'useful' this that I had learned is now I have to manually unlock my grow jars. I was getting suspicious when my tracker was saying I was losing SWEAT every month. Turns out if you don't manully open the jars your tokens sit in limbo. I had 115 sweat stuck in the ether, but they are now accounted for.

This is all to say that the SWEAT app keeps getting worse. I hope that one day I will be able to get the tokens off the app and realize my gains.
