1BTC Project - SWEAT Coin UI Update and Changes.

The SWEAT Economy has covertly been one of my favorite projects for a while, solely for the fact that it grinds quietly in the background. I have written in the past about their road map, and the progress they made and have committed to making. Their most recent update has left me more confused than anything else. Many things have changed and many of the for the worse.

Check In:

In a very disappointing move SWEAT has brought itself down to the level of every other 'free to mint' application. Previously, sweat would mine quietly in the background. Now your minted SWEAT gets accumulated on the home screen and you have to check periodically to claim the minted tokens and add them to your stack. This is an annoying step that only serves to pad active daily users.

This feature also raises the question of 'what happens to the SWEAT that going unclaimed?' Will those tokens expire? Will those user max out their minting until they do hit the claim button? This seem very limiting and I don't appreciate it.

Daily Spin:

To counteract the annoyance of having to log in daily to claim your minted tokens, the SWEAT team has added a daily spinner. Another overplayed feature but I guess its ok. This is far from ground breaking and I don't think it adds anything substantial to the offering. It also isn't really in line with what SWEAT is -or was. This brings SWEAT closer to a basic crypto minting app and further from the fitness focus.

Changes to GROW

They finally eliminated all the expired grow jars that were cluttering the UI. So good job team!

They have now given the opportunity to claim your grow earnings early. Once the interest across all the GROW jars has added at least 1 SWEAT you can now pull out the interest - for a fee.

I image this is so you can take advantage of promotional APY rates. I can almost get the appeal of this, but it doesn't really make life any better.

Gas Fees

The biggest difference I have noticed about this update is now every action comes with a gas fee. On my first spin of the aforementioned wheel I won 1 SWEAT. To add the sweat to my holdings I had to pay a 0.2 SWEAT gas fee. Ridiculous. You have to pay a fee to claim your GROW earnings early. You have to pay a fee for almost everything.

There is even a 0.25 SWEAT gas fee to open a GROW jar? What good does this do? They recently dropped down the minimum amount of SWEAT to open a jar to 1 token then they slap on a quarter token fee? It doesn't make any sense.

I am unsure of the point. It could be a way to scale back the supply, or pay off the devs. The dev team will quickly build up their reserve and then we will vote to burn or distribute it again like we did in May of 2023.

I don't like the feeling of being nickel and dimed at every turn, especially when I have to pay a gas fee to get a reward I was just awarded.

Mint Update?

After all these change to how SWEAT is minted and the fees added to the account, it stand to reason that the mint rate would decrease. It has not. There has been fundamental changes to the project but the rate continues climb in difficulty at the same pace as it always has. As we tick quickly towards the 5000 step to 1 SWEAT mark users will be minting less than 1 token per day.

With these limitations and the huge token burn and the new hidden fees I think the Dev team should give a long look at the math behind the minting schedule and readjust for the new reality which they created.

Priorities

The most disappointing part of this update is what has been ignored. We gotten NFTs, an NFT game, Learn and Earn, GROW jar upgrades, a daily spin wheel, and other gilded lily features but we still are no where close to being able to trade our SWEAT. Not even as much as being able to trade the USDT from the Learn and Earn into SWEAT.

I would even consider depositing a stable coin into this locked wallet, as a proof of concept, if the functionality was available. It is not. The devs focus is on Web3, governance votes, and other gimmicks when they should refocus on going live.

I have

In November of 2022 I gave the SWEAT family of apps 4 out of 5 stars. I was new to the game and did not know much better. With this update and the advent of a year of experience and lack of developer progress I am updating my score. A year ago I did not think that Pi Economy would be closer to going live than SWEAT.

Because of the lack of progress and the unfocused dev team, SWEAT gets 1 out of 5 stars.

I hope this coming year brings a lot of progress for this project, but I am not hopeful. I will continue to use the app only because It requires so little effort but I am not very hopeful.
