1 BTC Project - Shakepay Nerfs Itself.

If you have been following my journey towards owning a Bitcoin, you will know that Shakepay has been a huge factor in my progression. Shakepay fell into the 'Too Good To Be True' category. It was hard to understand how Shakepay was making money for a long time.

The app started with only the shake feature. Then they added the payment card feature with cash back in BTC. Other features showed up, like shakesquads and direct deposits.

Perhaps a year ago the developers at Shakepay reordered the shaking feature. Obviously, you can't give away money forever and be successful. So they incentivized making purchases with the card at least weekly. Buy making a purchase with the card and buying some Bitcoin once per week your account became active and you would receive your full shake amount. If your account was inactive you would only get 24 sats.

They also rolled back the shakepay schedule at that time. I remember this because I was very negatively impacted. The target has long been to build your shake streak to 1000 sats per day. This easier prior to the last reformatting.

I had built my streak all the day to 747 days in a row. This now earned me 747 sats per day and counting. I was well beyond the 1000 sat target under the old regime, and getting excited about achieving that under the new rules.

Then the developers dropped a bomb. They changed the rules again. No longer is it active vs inactive. There are three tiers. Base, Bright, and Blue. Alliterative.

Base is the equivilent of inactive.

To qualify for Bright you need to make $100 of BTC purchases or have $200 of direct deposits hit the account. The you can make up to 100 sats per day.

Blue requires both to be met and then your shake streak tops out at 500 sats.

Now instead of having something to aim at, I have maxed out and the system is even more annoying.

I tried to get my payroll to setup direct deposit into my shakepay account but it didn't work. So I am stuck in the bright tier on the months where I qualify. 100 Sats per day is better than a kick in the head, but I am getting at least 53 per day from Bitcoin Miner by Fumb Games.

The most disappointing part of this whole scenario is that they made this change in the middle of a huge Bitcoin downturn. I could understand if Bitcoin was back breaking all time highs, but at the time of writing we are well below $100K USD.

I am going to continue using the app and all its features. It may even continue to be my top monthly earner, but it won't be as productive and its not as exciting as it was a month ago.
