I reviewed Kucoin in March of 2024 and I continue to find new uses and quirks. Some more useful than others. One of my best performing blog posts was about KuCoin's duel investing. It seems like the good folks over there put a lot of thought into their earn products, especially the ones that seem to be packaged options products.
This month I found an earning product called SharkFin. I Imagine it is named after the shape of the potential earning chart (see below).
You have to deposit an amount of BTC into the product for 7 days. In the above case If the price of Bitcoin stays stagnant or trades lower during that time you will receive 3%. If the price of Bitcoin rises to 166,500 USD the interest will also rise to 10% APY. The upside of the interest is capped. Meaning if the price of Bitcoin rises passed 166,500 the APY drops back down to 3%.
The part that I like to most about the SharkFin product, and what separates it from Duel Investment, is that SharkFin has principal protection. This means no matter what happens with the price of Bitcoin, you get your sats back plus your APY.
Additionally the good folks at KuCoin allow you to throw an auto-redeposit back on. Meaning once in the SharkFin, the platform will reinvest the principal and interest into another 7 day cycle automatically. This means the growth never stops.
This is now the product where I hold the majority of my Bitcoin and when my 60 day earn products start unlocked I will roll those sats into more SharkFin lock ups.
