A few weeks ago, I finished a 10 series chain of dual investments on KuCoin. I think it is a very interesting strategy and can be lucrative. Read more about that chain here. I was lucky to have the 10th investment settle days before the latest pop in the price. As they say: better lucky than good.

Everyone in the crypto space has followed the recent price run up in Bitcoin. As someone who is trying to accumulate a whole coin. This was fun but less than Ideal. After seeing the trading price spike I thought it would whipsaw back when people realize gains. I decided to be brave and Initiate a dual investment with the strike price of 19,000. It didn’t pay off.

I initially invested 0.04255722 BTC. I was returned 812.22629533 USDT two days later. Now this is in USDT more than I invested, no in absolute value it is a gain. However, that amount of USDT could only purchase 0.03913260 a BTC loss of around 0.003. Losing BTC was upsetting to me but I got greedy so no one to blame but myself.

This is the downside of dual investment. You give up the upside and you can be priced out of the underlaying asset. So be careful.

To make up for lost ground I have thought of a new Dual Investment experiment. I purchased 0.005 ETH or about $100 CAD. Yes I spent analog currency on crypto. The first time in months. This is my penance for getting greedy.

I am going to use this ETH along side my Publish0x rewards and continuously dual invest it as aggressively as possible. Because it is in ETH I don’t care about the crypto value only the absolute value. I will track it closely and we will see where this amount ends up in a year.

Expect many updates and many charts. Hopefully this will show Dual Investment as a good means to build account value.
