On May 31st, 2023 I returned from Montreal to Toronto by train and ran my 5th Temporary Boost test. So
The results of the first four experiments were:
1. 2000 COIN =176 XYO = $0.90 USDT
2. 1535.04 COIN = 132 XYO = $0.62 USDT
3. 1488,99 COIN = 159.74 XYO = $0.635 USDT
4. 1806.57 COIN = 200 XYO = $0.873USDT
Each of these had been inconsistent due to several factors. Mostly because I was driving and could not monitor the app while moving. I used this opportunity to try to run as clean an attempt as possible. I kept my computer and my app running and I journaled through the trip.
I am taking a train from Montreal to Toronto. Because of this I can monitor my 5th temporary boost experiment more closely than when I am driving. I also will be in motion for the majority of the 4 hour period. Besides short stops at train stations It is constant movement. I also have access to electricity so I won’t run out of juice. I am not using the trains wifi because it is brutal and I want to maximize success.
I have the volume set on so audio ads can run.
6:52 PM - Boost purchased and Sentiel NFC card tapped. We are off. Started with 9426.66 COIN.
One aspect of the boost that I have overlooked in prior runs is the bonus boost feature. The more geomines you execute higher your bonus paid in the Tuesday bonus drop. I decided to log this albeit late.
7:43 I figured I should log my bonus so I could baseline it. I Have 9,716.54 Coin and a 2.4X bonus drop power.
I am trying for a profitable geoclaim, but I don’t think it will work out. I spent 150 to buy geoclaims en route. 2 different areas. Hopefully they are profitable. This 150 coin that I spent needs to be taken into account for this trip.
The train does not seem to be a good venue for geoclaims due to the spotty reception. At 8:39 PM reception died. The app was down for two minutes. This shows that if I am not watching to ensure a smooth passage the temporary boost time may be wasted.
At some points the reception was so poor that the app would just shut down, other points it just wouldn’t mine for long stretches.
At just over the 2 hour mark, I mined slightly under 1000 COIN. I think the 500 per hour pace is realistic. This would put the cost benefit at break even with out taking into account the Bonus Drop increase made with an hour of constant mining.
I would be very happy if I got to 12,000 total COIN on this trip. I think its improbable, but passed Kingston I hope the reception will be more consistent.
It’s currently 9:00 PM EST and I have 10,307 COIN.
9:55 my total holdings are 10,685. Reception is getting better. 1 hour left of the boost,
10:33 – 11,009 COIN
10:53 – ended the 4 hour boost with 11,133.61
I end the boost with a 3.2X bonus drop power. I fill 6 bonus Bars while on temporary boost. This while harder to quantify and not an immediate benefit is not without value.
At the end of the whole trip I had 11,542.13 COIN
On the train ride I added 2115.47 COIN.

Experiment 5 was a success but just barely. At the end of the entire trip I was in the black by $0.01 USDC. This is without accounting for the Bonus Boost. I think with the 6 Bonus Bars are worth at least a $0.10 lift.
Unfortunately the one thing that may have tainted the experiment is it is the last day of the month and that means big geomines are more common. I the amount mined may be too high compared to any other day of the month.
I felt like the audio ads did not occur as often as I had hoped, but they obviously contributed to the total.
I feel like to get a true comparison I need to do a trip using only the Sentinel NFC tap and premium account.
The biggest factor that determines whether this whole app is worth it is what premium discount is applied to your account. I have paid for the Plus account for several months now. I receive a discount on my COIN to XYO swaps. So every succesive month I enroll in a paid account I get another percentage point in discount. It looks like the cap is 10%.
So I hypothesize that these experiments will get more and more profitable as the year progresses.
