Hey Peeps!

Yes, you read that correctly.
The Polygon (MATIC) network has quietly completed a Hard Fork titled the "Delhi hardfork" on January 17th at exactly 10:45 UTC.
I did not even notice this when the Hard Fork upgrade was announced on Polygon's blog on January 12th.
The blog post also goes into far greater detail regarding the Hard Fork upgrade.
The main goals of this Hardfork were to "reduce severity of gas spikes" and to "address chain reorganizations (reorgs) in an effort to reduce time to finality".
The upgrade will address the gas spikes by changing the "BaseFeeChangeDenominator" from 8 to 16. This should apparently smooth out gas fee when the chain experiences high demand and exponential spikes.
Chain Reorgs are addressed in this upgrade by decreasing the "sprint length" from 64 to 16 blocks. According to Polygon, "Sprint length” is the number of blocks a validator produces contiguous blocks on Bor chain.
It seems that reducing the length to 16 blocks will decrease the depth of the total reorgs, as blocks are produced continuously for a much shorter time than before (~32 seconds compared to ~128 seconds).

Polygon took to Twitter to announce the network upgrade:
Here is a video posted by Polygon regarding the Hard Fork:
This all sounds like promising news to me and I am quite interested to see whether the Upgrade will have a difference in what it intends to.
It is also good to see that the "Delhi hardfork" has not throttled the trading price of Polygon (MATIC) too much.
