Stablecoin announcements surge since the GENIUS Act, however not all Stablecoins are equal.
In the past month, there has been 9 new stablecoin projects announced for launch, meaning soon investors will have a wealth of options when choosing where to park their money. However caution should be exercises as not all Stablecoins are equal and users should not blindly trust that the coin will remain ‘stable’.
Within the same time period there have been 4 stablecoins which experienced significant ‘depegs’ (deviations of 20%+ from their $1 peg). These are USDe, xUSD, deUSD, and USDX. These depegs were part of a broader 2025 trend, with nearly half a dozen major incidents overall, exacerbated by thin liquidity, exploits, and market stress. Potential investors should always monitor redemption mechanisms and collateral transparency to mitigate risk.

Samurai Wallet Developer Keonne Rodriguez Receives Maximum Sentence For Crypto Crime.
Samourai Wallet developer Keonne Rodriguez was sentenced to five years in federal prison on Thursday for operating a crypto-mixing service that laundered over $200 million in illicit funds. Rodriguez, who apologized in court, was also ordered to pay $250,000 and will surrender to authorities on December 19.

Stripe-backed Tempo makes first venture bet with $25 million investment in open-source dev team Commonware.
Tempo, backed by Paradigm and payments giant Stripe, will adopt the Commonware Library and become a core contributor to its ongoing development. Commonware previously raised a $9 million seed round co-led by Haun and Dragonfly Ventures with support from notable angels including Avalanche’s Kevin Sekniqi, Cosmos’ Zaki Manian, and Solana’s Mert Mumtaz.

BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes posted that Zcash (ZEC) has become the second-largest crypto asset in his family office Maelstrom’s portfolio, behind only Bitcoin.
Driven by the privacy-trading narrative, ZEC had recently surged to around $750, marking its highest level since 2018. Hayes wrote: “Due to the rapid ascent in price, ZEC is now the 2nd largest liquid holding in the Maelstrom portfolio.”
ZEC is currently experiencing a pullback however, dropping 35% in the last 24 hours and is sitting around $530 right now.
