Korean exchange Upbit is hacked again.
Around 54 Billion Korean Won ($36.8M) worth of tokens like Bonk, Sol, Jup and others was moved from Upbit’s hot wallets to unknown wallets. The exchange suspended all deposits and withdrawals to run a platform-wide security check, and moved remaining funds into cold storage.
Upbit has vowed to cover the losses using their own assets ensuring the end user will not be affected by the hack. Some of the stolen funds included $8-9M worth of LAYER token which has since been frozen.
This latest hack is the first large-scale incident to happen to the exchange since it had to reimburse $50M from an Ethereum hack in 2019.
