Coinbase buys an UpOnly NFT for $25M... and then burns it. Back in March, cryptoOG Cobie minted an UpOnly NFT and put it up for sale, stating that when the NFT was burned they would do another season of popular podcast UpOnly. Today Coinbase bought the NFT for $25M USDC and burned it, meaning that 8 new episodes of the show will air and the show has been paid over $3M per episode.
It seems Coinbase and Cobie are dominating headlines today. Coinbase have agreed a deal to acquire crypto-investing platform Echo for 375M. Cobie, one of the founders of Echo, states "echo will remain a standalone platform under its current brand for now, but we will integrate sonar's public sale product into coinbase, and likely introduce new ways for founders to access investors, and for investors to access opportunities into coinbase itself."
