The US SEC just decided to not wait for the Clarity Act to pass and release new guidance explaining how crypto is classified.

Here’s the simple version, most crypto assets are NOT securities. They fall into categories like digital commodities, collectibles, tools, and payment stablecoins. Only one type is considered a security: tokenized versions of traditional assets like stocks or bonds.

US SEC Chair Paul Atkins said it himself, the confusion is over, and the agency is no longer trying to regulate everything. This matters because for years, nobody knew where the line was. Now there’s finally a clear framework and when the rules are clear, it’s easier for institutions, builders, and capital to come in.

Another week, another Exploit. Crypto payments platform Bitrefill disclosed that it suffered a cyberattack on March 1, 2026, suspected to be linked to the North Korean Lazarus Group / Bluenoroff.

About 18,500 order records were accessed, involving email addresses and crypto addresses. The breach originated from a compromised employee device and leaked credentials, allowing attackers to access parts of its database and hot wallets and transfer funds.

Mastercard acquires Stablecoin company BVNK in $1.8 BILLION deal.

The deal adds on-chain payment rails for Stablecoins, tokenized deposits, and tokenized assets across over 130 countries to Mastercards roster.

Aster announce their Chain Genesis is live and a new partnership with WorldLibertyfi.

“Aster is launching USD1-denominated perpetual contracts. Building on our USD1 spot listings and trading competitions, while supporting early liquidity development that Aster Chain grows from. Users trading USD1 perpetual markets may be eligible to participate in WLFI incentive programs.”

They said there will be trading rewards, holding rewards, reduced fees for USD1 pairs and USD1 can be used as collateral too.

Vitalik Buterin introduced a new fast confirmation rule for Ethereum.

This allows users to obtain a non-revert guarantee for transactions after just one slot (12 seconds). He noted that its security relies on two assumptions: most validators are honest, and network latency is below ~3 seconds. While its security is slightly weaker than economic finality, it remains highly reliable for many use cases.
