Coinbase CEO: We prefer no legislation at all over a flawed crypto bill
On January 16, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong criticized a proposed cryptocurrency bill in media interviews, warning it could harm U.S. consumers. He accused the banking industry of using "regulatory capture" to eliminate competition, noting that while banks work with crypto commercially, their lobbyists treat it as a zero-sum game. Armstrong highlighted that stablecoins' 100% reserves make them safer than banks' fractional reserve model, and argued crypto firms should be allowed to compete. He stated, "Rather than a bad bill, it's better to have no bill," preferring the status quo if the legislation favors banks.
In response The White House is reportedly furious with Coinbase and is considering pulling its support for the crypto market structure bill entirely if Coinbase does not come back to the table with a yield agreement that satisfies the banks and gets everyone to a deal,

Solana DEX Jupiter have introduced its stablecoin, JupUSD.
Jupiter said on X “We built JupUSD with the intention of being the most secure, transparent, and inclusive stablecoin in the world.
Here’s why:
1. It's the first stablecoin that actively returns native treasury yield to the ecosystem
2. It is backed 90% by BlackRock’s BUIDL Fund (stored in treasury bonds) and 10% by USDC, making the reserves as robust as anything out there
3. The native treasury yield is currently provided when you provide JupUSD on Jupiter Lend
4. Like JLP, this yield bearing asset jlJupUSD (need a better name...) is accessible as a core composable tradable token and DeFi primitive
5. We will actively look into providing more usage, integrations, and partners to enhance JupUSD
Of course, we are still early and will continue to build out JupUSD within Jupiter and the ecosystem.”
