As a researcher and teacher, I try my best to look at all "sides" of something before deciding what to do.  IF you follow me or look back though my older post, you'll see that I've done quite a bit of research when it comes to XYO token and the XYO Foundation.  It wasn't too surprising to me to see the article linked in the post when it comes to online privacy.  I've included the link so you can form your own thoughts about this "opinion" piece, which is based on no real understanding of the project!  

First of all, if you think you are doing anything truly anonymous online you are truly misinformed.  If you have an active electronic device with you, you are being tracked and data is being collected.  This only becomes a problem when certain entities "use" said data.  Every time you open Google or check Facebook, data is being collected.  These data are used to taylor your online feeds, just have a conversation about something then do a search for said item lol!  Anyway, I'm not going too far down that rabbit hole but you get the idea.

The COIN app that allows you to "mine" COINS that can be exchanged for XYO tokens does collect data real-time as you travel.  Yes, patterns of your travel can be analyzed if that is what someone wants to do, but I know that my travels are not that exciting so I figure no one will be doing that soon for me.  Even if they were, at least I am getting paid for it!  The purpose of the data mining is to develop a full geospatial map for all locations on this planet as verified by our devices, anonymously.  The data that XYO is using is for that purpose and the partners that we know about are more concerned with geospatial data than individual habits/trends.  Not to say that data use may/will change over time but that is not the point.  What the author of the opinion piece is missing is you get to control the data that is being collected by COIN.  It you don't want to be tracked, turn off the app and there ya go!  Also, if you are actively mining, you will mine more than 5 bucks a month, even on the lite plan that I talked about in an earlier blog post.

I hate to see misinformed article where ever posted and will do my best to correct them as I can.  I started to reply to the article listed and figured it was a waste of time.  You decide if mining is worth it to you after reading the whitepaper for XYO (link below) and remember that opinions are just that!  Anyway, this is by no means financial advise, just an informative post for you to consider.
