#27: Most of Crypto Twitter Is Lying to You (And You Love It)

By XanonymousX | XELIS | 2 Jul 2025

Let’s talk about something no one wants to admit:

Most of what you see in the crypto space especially on Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, and Discord — is smoke and mirrors. Carefully curated hype. Manufactured conviction. False promises wrapped in half-baked jargon.

And the worst part?

We fall for it.
We retweet it.
We even tip people for it.

But the truth?

Most of Crypto Twitter is not trying to help you win.
They’re trying to win off of you.

1. The Influencer Exit Strategy

Influencers don’t “share gems” out of kindness. They accumulate positions, build hype, trigger FOMO, then exit while you’re still adding to your bags.

You aren’t early. You’re liquidity.

No one tweets about a token they haven’t already bought. And no one warns you before they sell.

2. DYOR Is a Safety Net, Not a Principle

“Do your own research” is the community’s favorite disclaimer. It’s what everyone says to avoid accountability when their calls go to zero.

But let’s be real.
Most people’s “research” is reading a few tweets and watching a bullish YouTube video at 2 a.m.

We’ve turned financial decisions into vibe-based rituals.

3. VCs Are Already Out Before You’re In

By the time a project hits your radar, it's already been through private rounds, token unlocks, and behind-the-scenes deal-making.

You’re not early.
You’re just holding the leftovers with a shiny narrative slapped on top.

4. The Real Geniuses Are Boring

They don’t shout.
They don’t chase hype.
They don’t promise 100x overnight.

They’re reading code, contributing to forums, analyzing tokenomics, and quietly farming yield while the rest of us chase the next viral tweet.

And they’re making it — slowly, consistently, and without attention.

So What Now?

This post isn’t about being cynical.
It’s about choosing clarity over noise.

Here’s what I’ve learned, painfully and honestly:

  • Follow devs and builders, not marketers and influencers.

  • Don’t trust hype that comes with a referral link.

  • When someone says “not financial advice,” treat it exactly like financial advice — and then question it.

  • Profits are real only when you take them. Don't apologize for selling.

Final Thoughts

Crypto is brilliant. But brilliance attracts opportunists.
The difference between being early and being used is discernment.

If you made it this far, you’re already ahead of the pack.

And if this post made you think or challenged what you believe consider tipping. Not because I asked. But because real talk still deserves signal in a space full of noise.

See you in #28.

XELIS

I started this space because I genuinely believe $XELIS is something special. It's one of those projects that caught my attention and just stuck with me — not just for the tech, but for what it stands for: privacy, decentralization, and doing things a little differently. This blog isn’t meant to be overly technical or full of hype. I just wanted a place to share what I’m learning, keep up with what’s happening in the ecosystem, and maybe connect with others who are just as curious (or confused!) as I was
