Unless you’ve been under a rock, you are well aware that the NFT market has been exploding.
The largest facilitator of trading of NFTs is a site called OpenSea.
Recently, they were caught up in an “NFT insider trading” scandal as their head of product, who was privy to information about which NFTs were about to get listed on the home page, would buy the same NFTs from an account he thought was private.
Then, he would move the money around to one of his known accounts.
However, in the age of blockchains, everything leaves a trail.
Instead of months of police investigative work, the head of Product was uncovered by a Twitter user.
The fact that someone got greedy and leveraged their centralized position of authority to make some extra money, hoping that no one would notice isn’t news.
What’s news is that “detective work” is now something that anyone can do.
