It’s NFTs all the way down

tl;dr: NFTs surround us everywhere already.. It’s just that we don’t call them thatThank you Vegas.

Over winter break, my family and I took a trip out to the Las Vegas area.

We visited the Grand Canyon, Death Valley, Hoover Dam and, of course, the Strip.

I took them through the Venetian, which I think has one of the coolest interiors, and then sat at a roulette table, determined to show them how quickly you lose your money when gambling.

It worked.

But, as is often the case with travel, it’s the change in perspective that is most beneficial.

And it was while walking through the Bellagio, on the way to the Cirque du Soleil show, “O” that I had one of those “red pill” moments and I just saw NFTs everywhere.

The chips that the Bellagio uses are NFTs (of the ERC 721 type), since the “money” you use there is different than the “money” you use at the Venetian.

[We’ll leave aside the fact that no one uses chips anymore and it’s all on branded debit cards, but you get the idea].

The tickets we had for Row X, seats 3-7 were all NFTs as well (of the ERC-1155 type).

There’s literally only one of them for that particular show on that particular night.

The airline tickets on Southwest are NFTs, as is the room reservation at the Marriott. So is the key to the rental car for the week we had it.

In many respects, I’ve known this all along, but getting out of my usual frame of reference and putting some distance between me and where I usually think about these things allowed and enabled my brain to “level up” for a bit.

Not everything will be an NFT because not everything needs to be an NFT, but I can see why the NFT economy will probably be larger than the non-NFT economy (even though it will need to go through the non-NFT economy, if only to standardize the valuation).

It’s NFTs all the way down.
