Either you’re mad, slightly disappointed or weirdly exuberant
Now that everyone’s had the chance to yell at John Prosser on Twitter and the dust kicked up by the public unveiling has settled, let’s talk.
iPadOS 15: could have been more. Sure, we got an epic M1 iPad, but not a lot of software to go with it so far. One speculation that Drew (Tailosive Tech) had, which I could see happening, would be a dual OS boot option for the fully spec’d M1 iPad. When undocked, it’s iPadOS. When docked and connected to an external monitor, it’s MacOS.
iOS 15: the shining star in the night. Apple’s purchase of DarkSky is starting to show in the new Weather app. Maps got a beautiful 3D overhaul that I can’t wait to use. There’s lots of other features, but those are what got me really excited.
MacOS Monterey: sure, no epic M1X hardware was flaunted about. However, some interesting things like the new Safari and Shortcuts will be fun to play with. Whenever I get my M-something MacBook Pro (or maybe even an Air…).
Needless to say, I’m looking forward to the public releases of all these operating systems.
