“The Dip”

While listening to the audio version of this Genius Bar podcast episode, I was enlightened by “the dip” analogy by John Prosser.

And it’s very true!

Whether it’s videos, music or even this very article, all content creators go through “the dip”.

Where you see little to no progress from the labours on your choice of platform, it can be quite disheartening. You can literally make hundreds, if not thousands, of content publishings and see no yielded fruits.

Especially if you’ve seen results when you first started out. But now you’ve hit a slump. No increase in views. No additional subscribers. No new followers. No massive revenue boost. Nothing.

And, to be honest, if you’re about to begin the content creator journey, I would seriously consider this fact. It could be months or even years before you see any epic results. Even more so if your goal is to eventually quit your day job and constantly live the WFH live.

If you’re not okay with this, you may as well quit while you’re ahead.

Multiple creators have. It’s not an easy commitment. Imaging working for years on end before you received your first paycheque. Literally.

However, don’t be too distraught. If you’re willing to suffer, put in the long hours and extra work then, my friend, you will see victory.

Buying “the dip” is quite a common, sought after action in the financial world. However, in this case, I say fight the dip! Push against whatever negativity it brings. Don’t “buy the dip” and give up on what could be an epic journey.
