Looking for a good tank in the World of Cryptoids? Look no further, Food Cryptoid might be your best choice to protect your team from harm's way.
So why Food Cryptoid, you asked? Here are some reasons why you should pick Food Cryptoid as your tank?
Good Base HP stats
Food parts offer the best HP bonus multiplier
Having some of the best healing abilities in the game
Base Stats Breakdown: High HP with reliable sustain damage
Food Cryptoid has a base HP of 41, just 2 hitpoints below Fashion Cryptoid. This gives Food Cryptoid a much better chance at surviving enemies’ attacks and retaliating afterwards. Speed on the other hand isn’t that great, with just 33 Speed, you are expecting to get hit before hitting them back. So why the high base HP will also come in clutch.
Food Cryptoids also have a higher Skill than Luck. So you are not getting as many critical hits as you want on average. With 43 Skill, however, Food Cryptoids could deliver very reliable sustain damage with Combo and good shield value with Chain.
Parts Bonus Breakdown: Best HP multiplier but crippling Speed
Food Parts have the highest HP multiplier among all the Cryptoid races. Even with a slightly lower base HP than that of Fashion Cryptoids, a pure Food Cryptoid will have a higher total HP than a Fashion Cryptoid.
Other than HP, Food parts’ Speed, Skill and Luck bonuses are nothing to ride home with. Therefore, a pure Food Cryptoid might not be the brightest idea since you would want your tank to have some utilities other than soaking up damage.
Food Abilities Overview
Food abilities have a wide range of utilities, ranging from healing, debuffing, and race-specific targetting abilities. However, high attack and shield values are not common in Food abilities in general. Therefore, you have to balance your Food Cryptoid between attack/shield and utilities.
Here are some of our recommended abilities that you could consider when breeding your ideal Food Cryptoid.
Useful Food Ability: Horn
Food Cryptoids get access to some of the great horn abilities, such as dealing extra damage and healing.
Take Churrasco and Melted Cheese as examples:

Both cards have impeccable attack value among Food abilities. Besides, both of them have one thing in common: it works best when your Food Cryptoid is slower than your enemy.
With Churrasco, your Food Cryptoid can deal 120% damage if it is attacking last. Melted Cheese, on the other hand, can deal extra damage if your Food Cryptoid’s shield breaks, which requires your enemy to hit you first.
Combined with the natural lower Speed bonus and base Speed of Food Cryptoids, these abilities are packed with quite some heavy-hitting punch.
Aside from damage ability, you can also go with Cake if you are looking for some sustainability for your Food Cryptoid.

Although with 4 cost, this ability could heal the front Cryptoid with a whopping 270 HP, which would cover ⅓ of most of your Cryptoid HP. The shield value is average among all the Food abilities.
Useful Food Ability: Ear
Popsicle is one of the best Food abilities in-game with good attack and shield values, and some reliable healing.

Not only does it give a decent attack value, but it also gives a high shield relative to Good ability with just 2 energy. On top of that, your Cryptoid could also heal out of the inflicted damage when targeting a Food Cryptoid. This card will come in handy when you are fighting other Food Cryptoid.
If you have concerns about energy consumption, Prawn is a good choice for Food ability.

Just by Comboing, your Cryptoid could steal 2 energy from your opponent, basically making this ability with 0 energy cost.
Useful Food Ability: Weapon

80 is a considerable amount of shield value for a Food ability. Aside from shield, Shrimp could also provide some chip damage and gain 1 extra energy if you are struck by a Technology card. Considering technology is an offensive race, you are expected to gain quite some energy from this card.
Useful Food Ability: Tail

Popcorn is our recommended pick for Food Tail ability. Again, 80 shield is very decent for a Food ability. The 60 attack is also good to have as a bonus. You can also disable the attacker’s ranged ability on the next round when your Cryptoid hit them with this ability. It gives your backroll Cryptoid some much-needed protection.
In summary, this guide is merely touching the surface of what Food Cryptoid could offer, some of the Food abilities might look underwhelming at the first glance, but it would work surprisingly well either when you combine with abilities from other races or fight specific race enemies.
Do not rely solely on this guide to build your Food Cryptoid, but try to come up with some creative combinations, especially combining with other races’ abilities.
