Accusing 54 year-old Maikel Moreno of participating in transnational organised crime and accepting bribes, the United States of America is offering a 5 million US dollar reward for information leading to the arrest or conviction of the Venezuelan Chief Justice. Mr. Moreno has been leading the Venezuelan Supreme Court since February 2017.

The United States Department of State and the United States Transnational Organized Crime Rewards Program alleges that Mr. Moreno has received bribes in exchange for convincing judges to drop cases of release defendants. Meanwhile, Mr. Moreno has denied the allegations, accusing American officials of and "attack" with "clumsy attacks full of manipulations and lies".
