In a televised address, United States President Donald J. Trump announced that in an effort to combat the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus, travel from 26 European nations to the United States of America will be suspended for 30 days effective Friday at midnight. President Trump said that the restrictions are "strong but necessary", though will not be applied to the United Kingdom.
The travel order does not affect American citizens, though applies to anyone who has been in any of the European Union's 26 Schengen countries within 14 days prior to their arrival in America.
As of now, there are at least 1,135 confirmed cases and 38 deaths from Covid-19 in the United States. Troops have been deployed to New Rochelle just north of New York City to help with other necessities to some individuals who have been told to self-isolate in the containment zone.
On the nation's west coast, Washington state has banned large gatherings in several counties while the National Basketball Association (NBA) announces that the season will be suspended.
