A Tornado fighter jet belonging to the Saudi-led coalition crashed in the province of al-Jawf, Yemen. While the Saudi coalition provided little details about the incident, a spokesperson confirmed that the jet had "fallen" while carrying out a support mission near Yemeni soldiers. There were no mentions of casualties or how the incident happened. On the other hand, Houthi combatants state that they used ground-to-air missiles to shoot down the aircraft.

Brief Background:
The Saudi-led coalition has been fighting against the Houthi group since 2015, after the Houthi combatants captured the Yemeni capital city of Sanaa, forcing Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi and his cabinet to flee. Since then, tens of thousands of people have been killed in direct conflict, triggering one of the world's worst humanitarian disaster to date. The United Nations and other NGOs estimate that over three quarters of the nation's population of 24 million require humanitarian assistance and/or protection.
