Russian Soldier Detained for Killing 3 Other Soldiers

A Russian soldier has been detained after killing three people and injuring a fourth at the Baltimor airbase near the city of Voronezh. The incident started at about 05:00 local time. According to Russian defense officials, the soldier first killed an officer with an ax before stealing his pistol and using it to kill two other soldiers and seriously injure another. The injured man has been transported to a nearby medical facility, and is now undergoing treatment. The subject has been identified as Private Anton Makarov, and is now being interrogated. Russian media groups say that hundreds of soldiers and special forces units were initially deployed to hunt down Private Makarov, who barricaded himself in the base.

As of now, the motive behind the attack is still unclear. Though one media group suggested that the incident initiated during an inspection, this account has been denied by military officials. Another group suggested that Private Makarov was a victim of hazing, and may have been abused by his superiors, though this is not confirmed either.
