In an international sting operation carried out by Interpol, American drug officials, and Brazilian and Mozambique police, 49 year-old Gilberto Aparecido dos Santos, one of Brazil's most-wanted criminals who also goes by the name Fuminho, was arrested in Maputo, Mozambique, after spending over 2 decades on the run. Fuminho is an alleged leader of the São Paulo-based First Capital Command (PCC), and is accused of running global drug trafficking operations.

Brazilian police forces stated that Fuminho is though to be one of the "largest supplier of cocaine to a gang operation throughout Brazil". Meanwhile, Mozambique official say that he was arrived in the country in mid-March, and was arrested at the Montebelo Indy luxury hotel alongside two Nigerians. A fake Brazilian passport, cannabis, and over a dozen cellphones were seized during the operation.
As of now, it is unclear whether Fuminho will be extradited to Brazil to face trial.
