New York state governor Andrew Cuomo announced that to reduce the transmission of the Covid-19 coronavirus, people travelling from the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Washington, and Utah are to enter 14 days of self-isolation upon arrival, even if they are returning home. Anyone found breaking the quarantine could face fines of $1,000 United States dollars and $5,000 for repeated violations. Governor Cuomo also said that the quarantine list could change depending on the number of new cases per 100,000 people and rate of positive tests.
The states of New Jersey and Connecticut have also implemented the same protocols on the 9 listed states.

As of now, the state of New York has confirmed over 388,000 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus alongside over 30,900 Covid-19-related deaths. Meanwhile, the United States of America has reported over 2.4 million cases of the virus alongside about 124,000 confirmed deaths.
