Ghana's President Nana Akufo-Addo stated that to combat the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus and to reduce the financial burdens of citizens amid the pandemic, the government will pay citizens' water bills for the next three months. In his televised address, President Akufo-Addo also urged utility companies to restore any disconnected accounts to provide a consistent supply of water and electricity to the nation. Meanwhile, water tankers will be available in vulnerable communities. Health workers treating patients with Covid-19 will receive a pay bonus while all health workers will be granted a 3-month tax holiday.

As of now, Ghana has reported 214 confirmed cases of the infection alongside 5 Covid-19 related deaths. Currently, 2-week lockdowns have been implemented in the cities of Accra, Tema, and Kumasi, which were identified as hotbeds of viral spread.
