With the delay of James Bond - No Time to Die, Marvel's Black Widow, and Steven Spielberg's West Side Story, Cineworld, the world's second largest theater operator, announced that it will be temporarily closing all screens in the United States, United Kingdom, and Ireland effective this week. Cineworld initially began reopening in July after Covid-19 coronavirus lockdown restrictions began to ease, but rising rates of viral infections have prompted new restrictions and movie release delays, keeping viewers away.

Cineworld employs over 37,000 employers across just under 800 venues across the United States and Europe. As of October 4th, 2020, Cineworld shares have plummeted 82% since the start of the year.
