6 Fined in Ghana For Attending Party Amid Covid-19 Outbreak

A court in Ghana has fined six Nigerians the equivalent of $2,500 United States dollars each for attending a birthday party in Teshie suburb of the capital city of Accra despite a 3-week lockdown implemented to combat the spread of the Covid-19 Coronavirus. The court stated that if they cannot pay the fine, they will face a 5-year prison sentence.

However, the ban on public gatherings, school operations, and border services are still in force. As of now, just under 1050 people in Ghana have tested positive for Covid-19 while 9 people are confirmed dead.
