Partnerships In Detail
March 2018: TokenPay, a blockchain payments developmental company that works on advanced security and privacy technologies, announced that they had partnered with Verge as they contributed over 66.5 million XVG to the Verge crowdfunding campaign. This partnership was very instrumental for Verge as they went on to benefit from TokenPay’s partnership with a German bank (covered beneath). The two projects are working together to bring many TPAY (TokenPay coin) integrations together with Verge.
April 2018: TokenPay Swiss AG, the parent company of TokenPay, announced that they had a partnership deal with WEG Bank in Germany. The deal involved TokenPay acquiring 9.9% of the bank with options to purchase 90% overall after customary regulatory approval as, under German law, no entity can own more than 9.9% of a bank without regulatory approval.
The bank intended to implement the TokenPay blockchain technology immediately as it prepared to onboard customers from the TokenPay and Verge communities. With WEG on board, they had suggested that traditional debit cards would be available for all account holders, allowing XVG users to spend Verge in a traditional manner.
December 2017: Prior to these partnership arrangements, the lead developer for Verge, Sunerok, had also joined the advisory board for TokenPay as he stepped into his role as the TokenPay Blockchain Auditor.
2. MindGeek (PornHub)
April 2018: After months of speculation about who the new mysterious partner was for Verge, it was announced that it was MindGeek, the parent company of PornHub. PornHub is the number one destination for adult entertainment and is the 36th most visited website in the world. This partnership now allows users to subscribe to PornHub Premium, their HD On-Demand streaming service, by using the anonymity provided by the Verge cryptocurrency.
It actually turns out that MindGeek approached Verge first and not the other way around as the adult entertainment giant was in search of a coin with a focus on privacy and security. However, Verge had to prove to MindGeek that they had a solid community and, therefore, they launched the crowdfunding campaign aimed for users to donate XVG to future marketing ventures and Verge integrations. They managed to raise around 75 million XVG ($3 million) and the partnership was born.
MindGeek owns a bunch of companies in the adult entertainment sector including RedTube, Playboy, MOFOS, and Brazzers. As a result of this partnership, Brazzers, the pornographic production company, and Nutaku, the world’s largest adult gaming platform, also announced they would be accepting XVG as a means of payment for their services.
October 2018: NetCents Technology Inc, an online payment processing platform, announced that it had entered into a joint agreement with Verge. Through this partnership, NetCent became the vendor of choice for Verge as NetCent fully integrated Verge into their ecosystem which included the merchant gateway, user portal, credit card, and their Instant Settlement Program.
Furthermore, Verge agreed to promote the NetCent platform through its social media and marketing channels. This turned out to be a mutually beneficial partnership as they both leveraged value-added opportunities for one another.
March 2019: Later down the line, NetCents announced a partnership with Surge365, an direct sales travel company. Surge365 agreed to integrate NetCents Merchant Gateway into its platform which, in turn, allowed XVG to be a payment option as it was already integrated into NetCents.
Surge365 has hundreds of thousands of hotels, resorts, and cruises available for its members, and the new partnership allowed for global membership subscriptions to be processed in cryptocurrencies such as XVG.
February 2019: NetCents had also partnered with ZOMONGO, a digital network in North America with more than 90,000 merchant locations, 3.5 million hotel rooms, and 22 major airports. ZOMONGO will integrate the NetCents Asset Management System as the base technology that manages the MONGOrewards token system.
The partnership agreement gave the chance for Verge holders to earn rewards in MONGOrewards tokens for users and merchants that registers for a NetCent account through ZOMONGO.
June 2019: Verge announced a partnership with PayCent, a mobile e-wallet that stores both cryptocurrencies and fiat currencies, to help bridge the gap between XVG and FIAT payments. PayCent allows its users to conduct instant crypto-to-fiat transactions that are backed by regulatory licenses in the UAE, Singapore, and the Philippines. They also have an electronic money issuer license from the Philippines to allow for micro-financing.
This partnership now allows XVG holders to load their PayCent MasterCard, Union Pay International, or Union Pay China cards. This means that XVG holders can pay for items on these debit cards and even withdraw XVG as cash through ATMs.
August 2019: Verge announced a partnership with the online CBD retailer, Ganja.com. This partnership announcement sees the CBD retailer accepting XVG to anonymously buy CBD at XVG.ganja.com. Furthermore, it is also offering a further 20% discount to users that choose to pay for the CBD with cryptocurrency.
6. XcelPay & XcelTrip
June 2019: Verge announced a partnership with both XcelPay, a payment gateway, and XcelTrip, a global travel partner.
The partnership with XcelTrip now allows users to purchase both flight tickets and hotel accommodations across 800,000 hotels and 300 different airlines. This means that Verge holders can actually go to Verge meetups and pay for the entire trip in XVG through XcelTrip.
XcelPay is a payment platform and it acts as an independent entity from XcelTrip, however, the payments for XcelTrip are handled through XcelPay. This specific partnership with XcelPay also allows for any retailer and merchants to integrate payments with Verge through the XcelPay Point of Sale system.
April 2020: Verge entered a marketing partnership with MeconCash, a South Korean blockchain project that is developing a platform that allows user’s assets to be traded between different types of services. This partnership will allow Verge to benefit from MeconCash’s marketing channels within the South Korean market. They will also expose Verge to the Korean market through TV interviews.
On the other side, Verge is to help MeconCash through their carious market events such as podcasts and meetup events.
8. Pundi X
August 2018: Pundi X announced its partnership with Verge. Pundi X integrated Verge into their PoS devices to allow Verge holders to make payments in thousands of stores around the world that have the XPOS devices installed.
This was an important partnership for Pundi X as it gives an anonymous cryptocurrency for its users to make purchases at its merchants across the globe.
9. Manny Pacquiao Foundation
November 2019: Verge teamed up with the Manny Pacquiao Foundation as they wanted to enable cryptocurrency payments to help increase their cross border donations.
