The Dance And The Music

The Dance And The Music

"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who couldn't hear the music." - Friedrich Nietzsche.

Have you ever tried watching a dance on television with the volume on mute? Or have you watched someone blissfully shaking a leg while listening to music on earphones buried inside her ears?

They look a little insane don't they? Without the beat or the music reaching your ears, their moves look to be rhythmic, and at times may even look athletic or beautiful, but your mind can't just fathom what they are grooving to. That doesn't mean that the person dancing is insane - it just means that we may think they are crazy due to our inability to listen to the same music or rhythm that is making them move.

You can extrapolate this to real life too. We often do not know what is happening behind in a person's life. We then judge their emotions and behaviours and think they are doing something inappropriate. We fail to listen to their life's music and judge their moves and decisions. We judge what we see outwardly without listening to what is going inwardly.

So before you judge a person or make conclusions about their motives and character, take a moment to talk to them. Explore what is going on in their lives. Understand them from the inside out. When they open up and you are able to listen to their music, you will understand the beauty of their dance.

The White Board at my workplace often has thoughts and philosophies that make me think  deep. I've accumulated a lot of photos of these thoughts and hope to share them on this blog.
