Yesterday I was clever. I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.

I like quotes that use a clever play of words to drive home a point. Or should that be a wise play of words?
The only thing constant, they say, is change. And everyone has these lovely dreams of changing the world. Who wouldn't like to make a mark in the pages of the books of the history of the world.
But ask anyone if they would like to change themselves for the better and you will see a lot of hesitation. Very few people are wise enough or humble enough to start by changing themselves.
Michael Jackson in his song "Man In The Mirror" talks about this.
I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change.
Being clever is learned behaviour. Being wise is tougher and it needs insight and compassion. Realising where I need to change myself and the areas of my life that need improvement takes an immense amount of wisdom.
So take some time off to look into your own life. Are you perfect? Do you need to change anything? Start with that and you are on your way to changing the world.
