I seem to have acquired a few different sports games over the past couple of weeks in excited anticipation for the new football season. This series of posts is as much for my own benefit to keep track of things. But also an update on the progress for fellow managers out there!
Fantasy Premier League - Africa XI
If you've seen my previous post, then you'll know that this season I've varied my tactics, tightening the team selection criteria to only include players with an African nationality. I.e. they are listed on the Premier league website as having a nationality of any African country.

As you can see from the points scored, I was heavily reliant on my captain Mo Salah to deliver and that he did. That said, I was also fairly happy with my defence. Mendy and Koulibaly keeping a clean sheet and also Zemura putting in a solid display.
If not for Salah, the midfield would have been awful, I'll be scouting around to see if there are any replacements needed ahead of week 2.
If only I had that luxury for my forward line, where the selection pool is more of a puddle... Daka and Awoniyi getting appearance points only.
Sorare - Libero FC
First weekend of European football and my teams had a shocker. Libero Casuals scored 143.39 points in total. Which would have been great in FPL, but in the Sorare casual competition, it secured me 36,140th position out of 65,965 teams.

David Affengruber my top player of the game week.
As reward for this performance, I am happy to see Hamari Traore join the squad:

For those new to Sorare, it is essentially a cross between fantasy football (Like FPL above) and Panini sticker collecting. Except here the 'cards' are NFTs and are classed in 4 tiers of scarcity. The grey cards above, are the lowest 'common' and are free. Every week you play a team in the competition to be in for a chance to win a card with a limited scarcity.
Cards that are limited, rare or unique can be traded, either within the Sorare marketplace, or exported into third party marketplaces, for example Opensea.

The less said about Libero Limited the better, the only player eligible to play scored a big fat 0 (I don't have many limited cards yet)...
There'll be a drastic re-think of team tactics ahead of the next game week... The players need to start earning their place!
Sticking with Sorare, Libero are delighted to announce their foray into MLB:
Sorare - MLB
Well that actually went a lot better than expected. Especially for someone from the UK with next to zero knowledge of baseball...
The team scored a very respectable 148.48 points, positioning the team in a lofty 2,361 (out of 28,110):

The reward for finishing so high, was a new card of relief pitcher Ryan Helsey:

I'm actually quite excited to delve more into MLB, and see how great this team can be. However, I'm still not entirely sure what it is I'm meant to be doing. Therefore Libero FC will stay out of the transfer market for the time being!
That's the wrap for this week. Back to the training ground for the players and the data analysis for me.
