A Halloween Night to Remember
Last night felt just like any other Halloween. I had no big plans, just a cozy evening with some movies, candy, and a good book. As the night settled in, I heard the usual Halloween sounds outside – kids laughing, footsteps crunching through fallen leaves, and the occasional doorbell ringing for trick-or-treaters.
But something strange happened later, once the street went quiet.
Around midnight, I was heading to bed when I heard a faint knock on my door. Thinking it might be a late-night trick-or-treater, I checked through the peephole – but there was no one there. I shrugged it off, but the knocking came again, this time louder. I opened the door to see… no one.
Just the night air, cold and still.
I closed the door, feeling a little unsettled, but I told myself it was probably just the wind or a prank. I went back to bed, but the knocks came again – three times, quick and loud. I could feel my heart racing. This time, I didn’t open the door. Instead, I went to the window and looked out. The street was empty, completely quiet.
Suddenly, my phone buzzed. I looked down and saw a new notification: *Unknown number* But when I answered, there was no sound – just silence, then a strange, low whisper that said, “Happy Halloween.”
And just like that, the call ended.
I don’t know if it was a prank or something more, but I didn’t sleep much after that. So, here I am, writing it down and hoping last night was just Halloween playing tricks on me… or was it?
