The Mirror in the Attic

In an old house at the edge of town, there was an attic that no one dared enter. The house had passed through many owners, each leaving quickly, selling it for much less than its worth. The reason was always the same: the mirror in the attic.

Late at night, when the house was silent, you could hear whispers emanating from the attic. These whispers seemed to come from the mirror. Curious, one brave soul finally decided to uncover the mystery. They ventured into the attic, dust swirling in the beam of their flashlight. There, standing in the center of the room, was the mirror, draped in a heavy cloth.

With trembling hands, they pulled the cloth away. The mirror was ornate, its frame carved with unsettling faces. They peered into the glass, expecting to see their reflection, but the mirror showed a different scene. In it, the room was filled with people—gaunt, spectral figures staring directly at them.

One figure stepped forward, lifting a ghostly hand to the glass. The person in the attic felt a cold chill run through their spine. They tried to look away but found themselves unable to move, trapped in the mirror's gaze. The figure's hand pressed against the glass, and suddenly, they were pulled forward, as if by an invisible force.

The next morning, the house was silent once more. The attic door creaked open, and there, in the mirror, was the reflection of the room. But this time, a new face stared back from within the glass, mouth open in a silent scream, joining the countless others trapped in the mirror's cursed grasp.

The house went back on the market, the mirror draped once again. And the whispers continued, waiting for the next curious soul to free them.

Sleep well.
