If there’s one thing most WEB3 projects have in common, it’s big promises. Whether that means shooting for the moon or disrupting the status quo, new blockchain concepts seldom shy from hyperbole. MetaStones by comparison is a breath of fresh air.

Until of course it, doesn’t happen. That’s why we wanted to make MetaStones all about the journey.” A spokesperson for MetaStones said.

The journey, to which the developer is alluding, is an intriguing hook indeed. You see MetaStones isn’t your average Crypto project. At its heart, MetaStones is an NFT collection, but the story doesn’t end there. Instead of big money rewards, worthless IP rights, and opaque functionality, MetaStones is keeping its cards close. That’s not to say the collection isn’t a good investment, only that that’s not the big selling point.

So, what is the big idea and why should you care? Good questions, let’s dive in. First up to understand why we need to discuss what the project hopes to achieve. Simply put, MetaStones plans to create a true DAO (Digital Autonomous Organization), and not just any DAO either. MetaStones’ ambition is the creation of the world’s first Daoist DAO. 

What is Daoism?

Daoism or Taoism is an ancient philosophy from China and the far east. Its core tenet is the belief in universal balance. This equilibrium stems from its three fundamental pillars of patience, simplicity, and compassion. Yep, you read that right, MetaStones' big plan is the creation of a DAO grounded by comparison, simplicity, and patience.

As you would expect from any good emerging NFT collection there’s a raft of stunning animated tokens and a velvet-rich origin story. The developers chose the novel by Neal Stephenson as their inspiration and in line with that tale it begins in 1992 and the birth of the Metaverse. To coincide with this discovery project lore tells us that this is when the first MetaStones began appearing. We won’t spoil the whole plot. However, it's said that combining these MetaStones with their Origin StoneKeepers will restore balance to the universe. Of course, each token has many variations, including colour, armour, and various Bagua stones. These symbols, sacred to Daoist teachings, alongside the hue of each guardian help to determine a token’s rarity. In short, the more symbols and the fewer colour variations the rarer the token is. Of course, there’s more to the story, but we’ll leave you to discover that on your own.

Whatever next?

So what do the tokens do? Well, here’s where things get interesting. The developers are keeping this quiet for now. We do know though that owning a token, no matter the rarity, grants each holder founding-member status in the MetaStones DAO.
