I preface this by saying that my views on contemporary, albeit, legacy social media stem from my individual vantage point and subjective a perspective deduced from my personal experience. Your experience may have been all sunshine and rainbows, and I am genuinely chuffed for you, if that’s been the case. For me personally though… until late last year, I’d practically given up on social media. Why? Because in my eyes, its purity of purpose, which was communication, connection and freedom of speech have been hijacked and corrupted by money-bag corporations, vapid, flexing influencers and vicious, woke, cancel-culture extremists. These toxic zealots have turned what was once an exciting and enjoyable experience into a toxic swamp or envy, thought-policing and self-censorship. There are many great articles illustrating the heavy toll social media takes on mental health, self-esteem and even the physical wellbeing of people, so I won’t belabour that topic here.
This is why I was so delighted when I discovered Planet Torum, a growing #SocialFi Metaverse project that unites cryptocurrency enthusiasts and amalgamates the best elements of Twitter, Facebook, as well as strong DeFi and NTF accents.
