Torum SoFi Media

Socialising And Etiquette On #Torum And Wider Web 3.0 (Part 1)--a post by Tigerius

Landing on Planet #Torum and Breaking the Ice

TL;DR: The rules of engagement on #Torum SoFi Media are similar to most social media and human relationships, in general. Be tactful, respectful, humble, interesting or at least try to be entertaining and always willing to help others. It’s that simple. The end.

On the other hand, perhaps we should unpack this issue further and put these ideas into a more vivid context. OK… imagine that you’re at a fancy-dress party, perhaps the opening of a stylish, modern art gallery. The music is pleasant, the entertainment and decorations exquisite, there are fascinating conversation pieces around the room, all begging for attention and to top it all off, the hall is full of positive people to meet and discuss your interests with. One problem: you do not know a soul here… yet. How do you mingle without raising a stir… without appearing awkward, forced or, worse still—rude?

You would not try to make friends by approaching strangers at random, handing them your phone number and demanding their contact details in return. That’s no way to break the ice, pique the interest of others or earn their respect. An absurd strategy, right? Then why would anyone possibly think that this works on social media like #Torum? You would not expect people to take a deeper interest in you if the only interaction you’ve ever bothered with is a daily, apathetic “hi, how are you?” and “fine, thanks.” Why would anyone think that by posting solitary links to news sites, without context will get other Landers (the inhabitants of planet #Torum) interested in them? When #Torum promotes “Active Landers” they mean people who spend time on the platform and create valuable, quality content, not those who bombard the feed with 20 naked links per day or scores of pics without context. Would YOU consider making friends with someone who runs up to you and flashes a random image in your face without saying anything? No, you’d think them mad and chuck them in the loony-bin.

Multi-Facepalm

Understand the difference between Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 and blockchain tech. Most users here prefer anonymity, not because they’re ‘shady characters with something to hide’, but because it’s everyone’s RIGHT. As a nation, crypto enthusiasts push back against the greedy corps that would harvest and profit from the wholesale of our data. Our identities are our third most precious asset, right after our time and corporeal forms. Why? Because it can be used to accurately predict our thoughts and behaviour patterns, thus it is NOT something to take for granted and flaunt about freely. Even KYC is not a welcome notion in most crypto circles. Influencers and larger creators might publicise their names and divulge personal photos, to inspire confidence from others and build a brand, but the average user shields their identity behind an avatar and username. This is perfectly acceptable. Elaborate scams run rampant through the Cryptoverse, thus, a certain level of anonymity is a sensible precaution, for those who are not public figures or creators. So feel free to decide on an intriguing username, perhaps one that reflects your interests and/or character and join the discussion fray. No one will think any less of you for moving on with the times, the days of centralised info-leeches like Fb & co are numbered. The writing is on the public ledger of the blockchain.

Understand what #Torum is about and for extra credits: read the whitepaper. Yes, it’s a social medium and you can post most family-friendly content here, however, keep in mind that the blockchain is our King and cryptocurrency—our Queen. We are all people, with a myriad interests and that is part of what makes us such a beautiful, variegated community… but crypto-enthusiasm is the glue that keeps us together, not the desire to share holiday snaps and pics of our dinner plates. No, of course, you are not required to post about the markets all of the time, but an occasional opinion on some aspect of the Cryptoverse is most appreciated by the community. Holiday snaps, shoes and dinner plates are welcome too, just in moderation… there can be too much of a good thing, if you catch my drift.
understand what you're getting in to

DYOR.

Never spam. You would not approach a group of friends merrily chatting at a party and begin blurting out stuff about your own art, job or some token you’re shilling. Of course not, because you fully understand how people would treat you if you did. Instead, you would first listen and follow the discussion and then make your presence known by supplying comments that are relevant to the conversation, interesting and maybe get the chance to introduce yourself at some point and become a part of the group. So it is on social media. Invest the time in getting to know others and you will be rewarded with real friends here, just like you would be in the real world. On the other hand, if you act like YOUR time is precious and everyone else is just a commodity to be traded or converted on your referral link, shilled or just used to build influence, i.e., a means to a selfish end… well, you will reap what you have sown. Be that on #Torum or in IRL.

STOP pursuing, tolerating and/or endorsing the misguided F4F culture. Understand that if you don’t invest time and energy into creating quality content, you will never build an audience—nor do you deserve one. Begging for likes or follows is a natural rookie mistake, but it must be addressed, as it damages the community as a whole. Never follow someone and then DM saying “I followed you, so follow me”. On the flip-side of that do not follow people back if they send you such a DM. If we, as a community, shun the practitioners of this activity, the practice will soon shrivel up and die out. Many senior Landers do not take kindly to this practice, as they are bombarded with these inane requests 24-7 and, as a result, have very little patience for inconsiderate n00bs. For you, this may be a first-time mistake, but for them… a thousand time too many such daft faux pas, so don’t expect any mercy and empathy.

Just. Don’t. Do. It.

Stop F4F

Don’t be that guy.

Alright, this is getting a tad too long, so I shall continue my musings in Part 2, see you there!

Are you an NFT investor? Sick of bankster tyranny and political corruption? Welcome to the club! We are building a Decentralised Autonomous Organisation (DAO) to confront and stand up to the evil that banks do, by spreading information about the golden age of crypto, as well as bankster-busting art. In the future, we will launch awareness campaigns, as well as develop screenplays and games to foment a groundswell of self-custody of wealth and aspiration toward true financial freedom. The Crypto Crypts collection is the genesis collection released under the Animusian Artists’ Collective brand and every Halloween we will expand the collection with a new drop, as well as release rare art and support throughout the year. The AAC stands for helping to launch promising artists’ careers and to support animal rescue. Over 90% of the proceeds from the Crypto Crypts collection will be sent to charity, reinvested into the community or the DAO treasury.

So if you are looking for a project with a long-term vision and a noble cause, join the Union of the Stake today. Become a Crypto Crypts’ Stakeholder, help us stake it to the banksters and shape the future of the world! https://www.animusians.com/crypto-crypts
