This post is likely to trigger some BTC maxies, so I will preface it by saying that I hold BTC and am a fervent advocate/supporter for blockchain and Web3 tech. However, there IS such a thing as too much of a good thing, that's why I find maximalist views on virtually any subject to be misguided at best. This is not an attack on any group of individuals, rather an attempt to improve our industry's health and make it more attractive, by augmenting and evolving certain behaviours and thought patterns I find to be destructive and counter productive. Together we BUIDL. Together WAGMI!
Alright, let's get to it. I recently came across this image on CMC and could not resist a resounding face-palm. It depicts exactly what's wrong with the crypto industry. The BTC maxis just want to corner the market, then kick back and laugh at everyone else, while the world languishes in turmoil and suffering. They don't want to solve or alleviate problems. No, they desire to gloat and bask in the "I told you so!" smugness.
I am all for financial freedom, but oppose those who wish for pandemonium, economic and societal collapse, dreaming of the day when everyone in the world is just dying (probably quite literally) to get a piece of BTC. This is an extremely churlish and immature mindset.
A cult of chaos cannot lead to healthy mass adoption.
Just look at my recent tweet: if 100% of crypto's current MC (BTC INCLUDED) could be wiped off the fiat Ponzi within a week and the world barely blinked, do they really think that peeps will be fighting over BTC anytime soon?! https://x.com/TigeriusAnimus/status/1834359470744359394

Here's a reality check, Friends: crypto is an almost irrelevant sector for the RWA-based global economic juggernaut and will remain so for this and probably even the next cycle. By the mid-2030s... who knows? If AI does not kill crypto (and then end our civilisation), maybe we'll have a shot at the global currency? But it simply cannot be BTC, as avarice-crazed maxis like Saylor have worked hard to ensure that BTC IS FAR TOO CENTRALISED to be trusted by the masses.

However, for the immediate future, expecting BTC to take over the entire global fin sys (any day now...) is like assuming that a rare earth mineral will suddenly dominate the entire industrial sector, supplant steel and aluminium in use cases and simultaneously become an SoV bigger than gold and everyone on the planet will suddenly NEED to own some of it. That's wishful thinking and self-delusion.

Crypto Bros need to understand one simple truth: speculation is NOT and never will be crypto's killer app. WAKE UP: it's not a serious use case.
Also, without proper decentralised, albeit enforceable regulations and security, we can forget about mass adoption. Most people on this planet don't have ANY capital that they're 'willing to lose', as the trite, cockamamie NFA mantra goes. As I've explained in detail, SECURITY, not store of value is the difference between mass adoption and adoption no mas!

I get that in any business there can be no reward without an element of risk, however, the risk must be clearly defined, understood and manageable/limited. At the moment, crypto is like some wildly volatile gambling volcano. Yes, casinos are profitable business for those who know what they're doing and can afford the risk... Yes, fat stacks are made by the savvy few, almost exclusively by fleecing the gullible many. Reality check: that's NOT a path to mass adoption.

Given all of the above, it's not Bitcoin that's important to the world, nor is it DeFi, GameFi, SocialFi or whatever-else-wannabeFi. To draw inspiration from the famous quote by Jim Carville: it's the blockchain, stupid! THAT's the real revolution. That's the tech that matters... Now the challenge evolves to do something with it that matters to humanity!
Ps. It's nice to see that AI still draws 3-armed people... but not for long. Somewhere in the not-too-distant future there will come a tipping point, when complacency will flip into abject panic.
But for the moment, consider the apathy of the masses: At first AI destroyed the writing profession through rampant plagiarism and I said nothing, for I was not a writer... Then AI harvested the art and must of our culture and destroyed the artists' and designers' careers and I said nothing, for I was not an artist or designer...
But soon the entire world will be squealing with the feeling, when teachers, drivers and eventually even coders are rendered jobless! Soon UBI and the ultimate end of any pretence of democracy. #StayFrosty and don't get caught napping, Friends!
