Nine Chronicles - Arena season 0 - How it works, rewards, tips and tricks.

The play to earn in Nine Chronicles has just become way more serious!

You could always make some NCG out of selling the gear that you craft but starting with September 8th the arena will give straight out NCG rewards!

This will also motivate players to invest more into gear so good times are coming!

If you don't have an account already, the invite codes are locked until next week but join the official discord to find out when you will be able to start playing.

It’s coming, we are finally going to have significant rewards from bashing each other in the arena!

I’m Wabbs, and today we’ll take a close look over the arena system, the rewards and I’ll also add in some tips and tricks for gearing up.

History lesson

For me this is an incredible addition to the game. We have been suggesting arena changes and rewards since forever. Even if we are not having the full rebalance and rework, it’s still nice to have a reason to gear up and fight for the top!

If you are new to the game, the Arena is the player vs player mode. You attack others, and if you win you gain rating and advance in the standings.

One important change: We will get less fights than now: only 5 every 6 hours.

The rewards will be given on the onboarding portal so make sure you set an account until then.

Rewards

Considering the success of the Nine Chronicles IDO the rewards for the season are absolutely HUGE!

First of all, the medals. Each fight will have a 30% chance to give you a medal. At the end of the season, a pool of 448,000 NCG will be divided by the number of total medals earned by all the arena participants.

That means that everyone will get NCG. Even if you lose all the battles. Quite user friendly :)

This also opens the path for a potential arena shop that uses medals.

Now to the serious part.

There will be weekly + end of the season rewards based on the ranking.

At the end of each week, the top 500 will get NCG.

But the sweet sweet rewards are at the end of the season.

Titles and skins!

There are two new limited skins. 1 third of the total minted will be rewarded for the top arena, 1 third will be rewarded for players with serious investments into monster collection (that’s a form of staking) and 1 third will be saved for future events.

Ruci (Mythical Grade): Rank 1–3

Rui (Legendary Grade): Rank 4–20

And the titles are:

Yggdrasil Champion: Rank 1–10

Yggdrasil Challenger: Rank 11–30

Yggdrasil Warrior: Rank 31–100

They might not seem that important, but keep in mind that these are super rare NFTs. So, unlike the gear, they can only get more valuable as time passes by. If someone wants that costume or title next year, he will have to buy it for the top players that earned it now.

If a player can stay in the top 10 for all the month, he will get 1600x4=6400 NCG, + the champion title (only 10 nfts of that kind) + a costume (only 9 - if top 3 and he gets the mythical one - or 60 total mints)
A player in the 50-100 range will get 1600 ncg and a title. Those are quite significant rewards.

Gearing tips

Our final purpose is to kill our enemy before he does. You always hit in the arena so you can from the start take out any hit gear off you.

For the survival part, you have to pick between health and defense, or a combination of those.

As you get closer to the top, you are most likely to encounter players using spells, especially on the swords. Those deal huge amounts of damage so defense is not doing much against them - when you reduce by 1k a 20k dmg spell, you are still dead one hit.

So to get a chance to the top 20, you need to have at least enough health to survive one spell.

For killing your enemy, you have 2 options.

1 - use spells yourself. I’d go with the best single target spell on the sword I can afford.

To take advantage of the spells, you need a lot of speed.

2 - Use a speed sword and stack as much attack as you can around it. Since you always hit, you always get the combo bonus so this deals more damage and crits more often than it looks. For extra style points, you can also use a spell ring.

You can of course use any other combinations but from my experience those two above have the best win rates.

I don’t know about you, but I am very excited about this. I can’t wait for the upgrade fees to be reduced (btw, that might be delayed for the second week of the season) so I can build my arena set and aim for the top. I expect us to have a very close finish so that sounds like fun :)
