Long long time ago, one is able to set start time and end time when adding a video to a play list. This function is removed ( Youtube Help ticket related to this ), but I thinks that function should be added back. So, I have written a minimalist player so I can personally use it, and if this page becomes popular, it should be acting as a proof to persuade Youtube to add this function back.
Just click the link above and press play button, and you will see what is this tool about.
But why?
I want to play the singing part of karaoke stream of Vtubers. To do so, currently you can only download the full streaming video, cut out the section you want to play and upload it as new video. Not only it is time consuming, it is stealing view count from the Vtuber who actually sing that song. I feel that if I am listening to a Vtuber's singing plaback, the view count should go to the original creator.
And for meme, as you can see in my demo list right after you get into the page.
How to use?
Just click on the play button and you will get a feel how it works. To change it to your own videos, you can just edit the JSON below. You may not know what is a JSON. Use some common sense and follow the format.
videoId is at the end of the video URL. For example,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHpxi7khHb0
The videoId is EHpxi7khHb0
start is the start time in seconds. So if you want to start at 3:15, you will need to input ast 3 * 60 + 15 = 195.end is the end time in seconds. So if you want to end at 3:30, use similar calculation as above and the value should be 210.
Example
Besides the demo short clips you can see right after you get into the page, here is another playlist created by me, extracting all songs from this karaoke stream:
[{"videoId":"jZVlc5Qfat4","start":216,"end":503,"name":"Be Crazy For Me"},
{"videoId":"jZVlc5Qfat4","start":1048,"end":1279,"name":"Paradisus-paradoxum"},
{"videoId":"jZVlc5Qfat4","start":1811,"end":2028,"name":"Los! Los! Los!"},
{"videoId":"jZVlc5Qfat4","start":2417,"end":2664,"name":"プラチナ"},
{"videoId":"jZVlc5Qfat4","start":3131,"end":3354,"name":"悪魔の子"},
{"videoId":"jZVlc5Qfat4","start":3577,"end":3915,"name":"MIRAI"},
{"videoId":"jZVlc5Qfat4","start":4121,"end":4431,"name":"Magica"},
You can just copy and paste the above playlist string into the playlist tool and click play. Now you have a playlist of all songs, skipping all the talking part of the stream. The view count will go to Quon Tama.
("name" is not necessary for the playlist. This is for you to know which song is in that clip, so it is easier to edit the list in the future)
I will create more playlist in the future and upload them here as new posts. Subscribe and you will be updated when I upload new play list. If you have a stream and don't know how to (or just too lazy to) extract the song, also feel free to comment below and you may see that as new playlist in the coming posts!
