I Tried to Sleep…

I Tried to Sleep… But My Mind Didn’t Let Me

By Afshin Amiri | Voices from Kabul | 22 Mar 2026

I closed my eyes.

I really tried to sleep.

But my mind…

it wouldn’t stop.

Every small sound felt bigger.

Every silence felt louder.

I turned to the other side.

Then back again.

Nothing changed.

It wasn’t the noise keeping me awake…

it was the memory of it.

That moment…

that feeling…

it kept repeating.

Like my mind didn’t trust the quiet.

And maybe…

it never will again.

If you’ve ever felt this… even once, feel free to leave a tip. It means more than you think.
