Are you familiar with the movie Donnie Darko? It was made in 2001 and starred Jake Gyllenhaal and Drew Barrymore. Both were still unknown in general and not seen as big movie stars. 

Here is my last post about the movie. The following facts and insights are presented: 

 

  1. Despite its international popularity, Donnie Darko was never shown in Sweden in the main private and commercial cinemas. 

  2. One of the first showings of Donnie Darko in Sweden in 2001 was via the private TV channel 5, shown to viewers at 1105 PM (2305) Central European Time. 
  3. In 2011, in one daily paper called Aftonbladet, Donnie Darko was voted by the readers as one of the top 10 confusing and weird movies. 

  4. In 2022, the Swedish Film Institute showed the movie in Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmoe as a part of the Cinemateket program. 

  5. During the occasions when Donnie Darko was shown in Sweden, it mainly had an age limit of 15 years.
