A recent study conducted in the UK has found that patients with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) experience sustained improvements in their symptoms when using cannabis products. The study, published in Psychopharmacology, examined the safety and effectiveness of cannabis-based medicinal products in over 300 patients enrolled in the UK Medical Cannabis Registry.
All participants had a doctor's authorization to access these products, as specialists have been allowed to prescribe cannabis-based medicines to patients who do not respond to conventional treatments since 2018. The researchers evaluated the efficacy of cannabis at one, three, and six months. They found that patients reported improvements in anxiety, sleep quality, and overall quality of life at each time point.
The study concludes that prescribing cannabis-based medicinal products for GAD is associated with significant improvements in anxiety and has an acceptable safety profile in real-world settings. These findings align with previous studies showing the short-term and sustained reduction of anxiety symptoms using cannabis or CBD products.
Previous studies on the use of cannabis products in patients enrolled in the UK registry have also shown their effectiveness and tolerability in treating chronic pain, post-traumatic stress, depression, migraine, inflammatory bowel disease, and other conditions.
This is excellent news. One more blow against punishment and inhumane lobby and one more case for freedom and humanism lobby
