I woke up late, with a start and a fright, My alarm had failed me, in the middle of the night,

I rubbed my eyes, and looked at the clock, Realizing I'd missed it, what a terrible shock!

I jumped out of bed, in a hurry and a rush, Trying to make up, for the time I had lost,

I brushed my teeth, and splashed my face, Rushing to get dressed, in a frantic pace.

I missed my breakfast, and my morning coffee, Hoping that my boss,

wouldn't think less of me, I ran out the door, and into my car, Hoping to get to work, before it was too far.

I got caught in traffic, and hit every red light, Wishing I could turn back time,

with all my might, But alas, I arrived, an hour late to work, Feeling embarrassed, like a complete jerk.

I apologized to my boss, and worked twice as hard, Trying to make up for my mistake,

with every card, But the guilt and shame, still weighed heavy on my mind, For missing my alarm, and over sleeping in kind.

So let this be a lesson, to all who hear my tale, To set multiple alarms,

and never ever fail, For the consequences, of over sleeping too long, Can be a heavy burden, and a painful song.
