Cicada on my sidewalk

I found this cicada dying in front of my house this afternoon.

If it is an annual cicada, it has a life span of 2-5 years. If it is a periodic cicada, it has a life span of 13-17 years.

It lived its whole life underground until it crawled out a few weeks ago and shed its skin and unfurled its wings.
