It seems like convenience has become such a common aspect of our lives that we hardly think about the extent to which we are used to it.

 We can order food without cooking, use maps without knowing the right way to go somewhere, watch anything we want without going anywhere, and get answers to any questions within seconds using our phones.

This is all very convenient, and we should not have any problems with making life more convenient for us.

The point is that when we start stopping ourselves from doing something just because the machine can do it for us, there is already a certain danger.

 How often do we look for answers in Google instead of trying to remember something, look for a solution to a problem instead of thinking about it ourselves? Slowly but surely, some skills may become unfamiliar to us due to the fact that they require no efforts from us at all.

What is interesting about the issue of convenience is that it rarely steals our ability to be independent abruptly. This process is gradual.

Once something becomes more convenient, people start choosing convenience by instinct since they see no reason not to use it because nothing else is needed immediately. With time, people become less inclined to put in effort, wait for something, or try figuring everything out on their own.

However, convenience itself is not the enemy. Technology has brought many positive changes into modern life. The thing is to use technology excessively, so people would start feeling helpless without it.

It is useful to be able to find one's way without the help of a navigator, make calculations without using a calculator, prepare food on one's own, think about something before searching for an answer, and even have some time without any digital distractions.

Independence does not mean renouncing technology and complicating life; it means the ability to use convenience while remaining independent of it.

Perhaps, the purpose of all this discussion is not to abandon convenience but rather to remain independent of it.
