Omakasea Defi Lesson 3- BlockExplorers

Omakasea Defi Lesson 3- BlockExplorers

      Etherscan.io

Etherscan is the lead blockexplorer or block scanner for the Ethereum chain.
Essentially; etherscan reports, live, all the transactions that have happened and are happening on the Ethereum chain.
We briefly explored signing in to Etherscan in order to interact directly with smart contracts. Mind you, it is not necessary to sign in just to search transactions and wallets. With an intuitive and clean UI, Etherscan makes it fairly simple to either scan through or search up any smart contract- whether that’s an ERC token, a wallet, a protocol, etc..

From there, you can enter into a web of all of the contracts that have interacted with the said contract, and see all the transaction history…

The above snapshot is the front page of Etherscan. It shows all up to date and relevant information regarding the blockchain itself- current price, market cap, gas fee, most recent transactions, etc.

The above is my wallet interface, revealing all relevant and up to date info on my account. Ether balance, other token(s) balance…

A list of all my latest transactions, the contracts that I entered into, and the types of contracts…(A lot of Eth Gobblers transactions :))

Clicked one of the contracts…(Omakasea :)) Notice that this contract is labeled “contact” while the wallet is labeled “account.”

These are all the block explorers that my address is present on- all of these chains are EVM compatible, which is why our ETH addresses live on all of them

Below is a famous wallet belonging to none other than..Miss Paris Hilton!

As you can see, the “value” tab just shows the native currency for the blockchain, I.e. the gas cost.

But if we unfold the “Token” tab, we can see all the currencies the wallet holds on this chain. Paris has a lot of ApeCoin, Origin (why?) and wrapped Ether, because we know she likes NFTs, and wrapped Ether is what is needed to make bids.

And of course here’s the list of transactions- Paris hadn’t made or received any ERC-20 payments or transfers since the bull market- however, when I clicked the ERC-721 token (outlined with a blue line above transaction) I see that she’s made a transaction within the last day, and a few within the last week.

So many rabbit holes to go down with the block explorer; literally, every transaction that has happened or is happening is recorded.
To learn more you’ll have to go to the block explorer, start clicking away and see where it takes you. Also, if you buy a Pokegan NFT, you can watch this lesson for yourself and get alot more from it.

Consider buying a PokeGan NFT.

You'll gain so much more than the basic outlines here.
