Hopefully most readers on this platform won't need too much explanation of blockchain technology, cryptocurrency in general and Bitcoin in particular.

However, some may require some refresher on how the planet Uranus fits into the overall picture.

An Astrology Viewpoint

If you study astrology you'll soon come across Uranus as being the planet most associated with revolution and innovation occurring at a fast pace and resulting in sudden change. Traditionally, it rules Aquarius, the very sign which is linked with progress, technology, and the destruction of previously accepted boundaries.

Uranus governs advancements in various areas - science, electricity, the internet, blockchain technology, and cryptocurrency being some - making it a natural enhancer of decentralised finance. It is seen to encapsulate disruption, decentralisation, and rebellion - which are obviously all aspects we have come to appreciate within the crypto phenomenon.

When Uranus transits through certain signs, it can trigger technological breakthroughs and shifts in direction - which are sometimes huge in magnitude - impacting upon established societal structures and organisations. Its most current transit through the sign of Taurus (from 2018 through to 2026) can be seen to have influenced the rise of DeFi promising a financial revolution that is challenging the very notion of centralised banking.

A Mythology Viewpoint

If history holds more resonance with you, you may know that in Greek mythology, Uranus (Ouranos) was the primordial sky god, representing all the heavens and holding limitless potential. In this mythology, Uranus was overthrown by his son Cronus (Saturn). This clash between the old and the new is not un-similar to how technology (probably blockchain based) is poised to take over from traditional financial institutions.

In this role as god of the sky, Uranus is thought to portray higher intelligence, wisdom, and radical transformation, promoting futuristic technology and earth-shaking ideas. The planet's influence is there for all to see in the rapid unfolding of the digital age, AI, and technology in general - which are all pushing humanity, regardless of individual desires or fears, towards a more decentralised and innovative future.

Using both viewpoints we can see that astrologically speaking, Uranus sparks innovation and technological revolutions, while mythologically, the planet pushes for the overthrow of the old order. Both themes are clearly deeply intertwined with Bitcoin and blockchain's rise in dominance compared to an old and outdated traditional financial system.

As mentioned above, Uranus entered Taurus in 2018 and will remain there until 2026. This is a highly significant to all of us as this transit means Uranus (planet of disruption, technology, and innovation) is moving through Taurus (sign of finance, stability, and material wealth).

Some of the key themes of these eight years will likely be:

Financial Revolution: Traditional banking, finance and money systems associated with Taurus are being challenged, disrupted, and decentralised by Uranus. This is a prime period for Bitcoin, blockchain, and DeFi to become alternatives to centralised institutions, structures and stores of value.

Alternative Asset Class: Cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and tokenised assets will continue to attract the attention of a wider audience leading to mainstream acceptance, causing ructions in traditional wealth models.

Innovation and/or Disruption in the Financial World: Uranus will conjure unpredictability, which is mirrored in the boom-and-bust cycles of Bitcoin and all crypto markets. Sudden price movements - both up and down coupled with regulation changes will be common.

Blockchain Overtaking Traditional Banking: Banks and governments are now being coerced into adapting to blockchain technology or risk becoming obsolete. Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) are just one reaction to this shift, a pivot aimed at embracing the technology but retaining some semblance of centralised control.

Wealth Distribution: The constellation of Taurus represents material security, but Uranus wants to force power to shift from centralised authorities (such as banks and governments) to individuals through decentralised assets like Bitcoin.

Cryptocurrency's Role with Uranus in Taurus

Cryptocurrency, as exemplified by Bitcoin (BTC), aligns perfectly with this particular Uranus transit. Bitcoin can be seen as a Taurus symbol of value and security, but its revolutionary and decentralised nature is pure Uranus.

During this time, amid inflation and economic instability, expect to see crypto and Bitcoin adoption to grow as people seek not only potential returns but also alternative stores of value.

By the time Uranus is finished in Taurus, it will seem as though a wrecking ball has torn through the illusions of the current financial world.
